I’m trying to collate the important Facebook wall posts this morning (Fri 6th July):

In the Key 103 interview with Chris’ parents Stuart and Jane, his Dad asks for anyone with CCTV footage on Heywood Old Road to check tapings between 11pm Friday to 2am Saturday. Chris got off at the Bowlee Park and Ride around midnight (apparently verified by 2 girls) and may have spoke to a security guard who was manning Bowlee car park. They are trying to work out where he went after the car park and also get in touch with that security guard.

@Sean Coleman: (10:55am, Fri 6th July)
Last sighting may now be Maccabi Sports centre

@Esther Seymour-Shaw: (11:02am, Fri 6th July):

Search for Chris Brahney – known facts and lead information

Updated @ 6th July 2012

FACT: Chris Brahney (aged 22 from Timperley, Manchester) has been missing since Friday 29th June 2012.

FACT: Chris was last seen by his friends after the Stone Roses gig at Heaton Park in Manchester at around 11.30pm. He became separated from his friends when he went to look for his Sony Ericsson phone.

FACT: Chris is white, of slim build, and has short brown hair. On the night he went missing he was wearing a light blue shirt underneath a dark blue zip hoodie, maroon trousers and dark green wellington boots.

IMAGES OF CHRIS:
Taken on the day of the gig this is what he wore:

POSSIBLE LEAD #1 – BOWLEE PARK AND RIDE:
There have been reports of a sighting of Chris either: on a Park and Ride bus heading to Middleton OR being at the Park and Ride bus area in Bowlee, Middleton between 11.30pm and after midnight on Friday after the gig. This information has prompted both official and unofficial search teams to cover the Bowlee / Middleton area. The route Chris is believed to have taken is plotted below in the below map (created by Manchester Evening News):

(NB: you can see this map better on the MEN website here and this Tripline Map)

BOWLEE / MIDDLETON SEARCH INFO:
It is understood that there are ongoing searches of the Bowlee Park and Ride area in Middleton, Heaton Park, and surrounding areas such as Salford, Cheetham Hill, and Manchester City Centre towards Timperley.

POSSIBLE LEAD #2 – MACCABI CENTRE / BURY OLD ROAD:
This morning there was an interview on BBC Breakfast with Chris’s dad, Stuart. Stuart stated that police have informed him of a confirmed sighting of Chris near the Maccabi Centre on Bury Old Road, around midnight on the night of the gig. Stuart mentioned that it may have been possible that Chris caught the Park and Ride bus to Bowlee and then doubled back on himself and travelled towards the Maccabi Centre.

The Maccabi Centre sighting was first mentioned on the Facebook group by a man named Roger, and ties in with a sighting mentioned earlier in the week by a man named Tarik, who believes Chris walked with him and his friends on Bury Old Road towards the City Centre.

Tarik stated that he was with a group of people and a man believed to be Chris, walking towards Manchester City Centre from Heaton Park. Tarik recalls that the man had lost his friends and his phone, was of slim build and had dark hair. It seems that the group walked along Bury Old Road from Heaton Park towards the City Centre, and stopped for a rest outside the Maccabi Centre, in the vicinity of a red petrol station, shortly before midnight.

It was at this point that Roger recalls the man believed to be Chris left the group as he wanted to see if he could catch a tram from outside Heaton Park, and he then started walking back towards Heaton Park. Roger states that he told Chris if he walked past the Woodthorpe and turned right, he would probably get a tram that way.

It is not known whether Chris took this advice – he may have done so and subsequently walked along Sheepfoot Lane or he could have taken the Middleton Road route towards Heaton Park.

Below is a streetview of the Maccabi Centre where the group stopped:

MACCABI CENTRE / BURY OLD ROAD SEARCH INFO:
It is suggested that search areas should be all of the area surrounding the Maccabi Centre, areas along Bury Old Road, Scholes Lane, Sheepfoot Lane and Middleton Road heading towards Heaton Park.

The map below plots the points mentioned in the sighting:

(edit: I’ve removed Zoe’s original map as she mistakenly put a red marker “Tram stop Chris was heading to” pointing to “Heaton Park tramway” – which is not the tramstop.)

(edit2: below is an editted map with the correct tram stops listed. On the Friday the Heaton Park tram stop was closed during the evening, so concert go-ers were directed to Bowker Vale after the gig)

ASSUMPTIONS:
We can safely assume that the police have checked for a mobile phone signal trace, checked bank card usage, and that they are doing all they can with search efforts recorded to include helicopters, dogs, rescue teams and investigators.

Please think about what you write on the Facebook group, we don’t need any negative comments about this situation, we don’t need inane questions or outrageous speculation / rumours.

Finding Chris and showing respect for Chris’s family and friends is of utmost importance at this time.

If you are going to search for Chris, please be sensible and go in groups of more than 2 people, stay together, wear weather-appropriate clothing and take precautions. If you find any item(s) which you think may help the search for Chris, please do not touch or disturb the item(s) – call the police on 101 (non-emergency) and take a photograph on your phone in case anything happens to the item(s) after you have informed the police of the whereabouts.

If you think you have any information which may help in the search for Chris Brahney, I urge you to contact Greater Manchester Police straightaway on 0161 856 7652, or call the non-emergency number 101.

13:55pm:
Please note that the photo of the lad lying outside a hotel room door in red trousers and blue shirt is NOT Chris. This has been verified by Chris’ friend Tom.

14:42pm
Kelly Sature who I think is a friend of Chris’ posted this at 14:21pm:

Ok, the shoes. Before the gig, Chris and one of the other lads stashed a pair of shoes in a Primark bag down an alleyway near the Printworks. They had the intention to return after the gig, change out of their wellies and go out in town somewhere. After the gig, one of the boys returned to the alleyway, without Chris, and found that the bag was not there and was nowhere to be seen in the surrounding area. It is possible that Chris returned for his shoes, however, it is unlikely he would have taken the whole bag and not left either his wellies or his friends shoes. We informed the police of this, but they decided there was no evidence to say Chris had returned and we therefore have to assume he was still wearing his wellies. It is very likely that somebody saw the boys stash the shoes prior to the gig as this was in daylight hours. They were also not very well hidden. This hasn’t really been mentioned because we didn’t want people to go crazy over something that there really is not much evidence for. It is useful for people to bear it in mind. However, if somebody did take the primark bag, knows somebody who did, or noticed someone suspicious behind Shudehill Met Station, then just inform the police. Don’t post it on here and go mental please. Also worth bearing in mind that Chris’ wellies were NOT real Hunters, they were a similar make although we are not sure which.

Yeah, we spoke to the printworks security etc and they said there were so many cleaners around that area that they may have been cleared away. Unfortunately I have no more details about the shoes they stashed, I wish I did. The boys didn’t have a plan about where to go afterwards, they were playing it by ear. Anyway, please return focus to tonight’s event and retrace of steps, this could be so important. Tonight, heaton park metro station, 11:45pm. Hope to see an amazing turnout like last night. Thanks again guys xx
